Our Commitment to Accessibility
Children's Resource Network of the Central Coast, doing business as Clothig Closet, is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually work to improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards. We believe every person - regardless of ability - deserves equal access to information about our programs and services.
Accessibility Standards
We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone. We have chosen Level AA as our target conformance level.
This website is designed to be compatible with screen readers, keyboard navigation, and other assistive technologies. We regularly test our site for accessibility and address issues promptly.
Measures We Have Taken
To support accessibility, we have implemented the following measures:
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements are reachable and operable via keyboard alone
- Visible focus indicators: Clear focus rings appear on all interactive elements when navigated via keyboard
- Skip navigation link: A "Skip to main content" link appears at the top of every page for keyboard users
- Semantic HTML: Headings follow a logical hierarchy (h1-h6), landmarks are correctly labeled, and ARIA attributes are used where needed
- Color contrast: Text meets or exceeds WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio requirements (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text)
- Alt text: Meaningful images include descriptive alternative text; decorative images are hidden from screen readers
- Resizable text: The site supports browser text resizing and zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
- Reduced motion: Animations are disabled when users have enabled "prefers-reduced-motion" in their operating system settings
- Touch targets: Interactive elements meet minimum touch target size recommendations (44x44px)
- Form labels: All form fields have visible, properly associated labels
- Responsive design: The site is usable across devices and screen sizes from 375px mobile phones to large desktop monitors
- Accessible forms: Form validation errors are communicated visually and programmatically; toast notifications use aria-live regions
Browser and Assistive Technology Compatibility
This website is designed to be compatible with:
- Modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (latest versions)
- Screen readers: NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), TalkBack (Android)
- Browser zoom: Up to 200% without horizontal scrolling
- Operating system accessibility features: High contrast mode, reduced motion, text scaling
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet be fully adapted to the strictest accessibility standards. We are actively working to address these areas:
- Some legacy PDF documents linked on the impact page may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We are working to provide accessible alternatives upon request.
- Third-party linked content (such as the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search) is outside our control. We encourage users to contact those third parties directly for accessibility support.
